About the Role:
Our Flight Dynamics Group is expanding to support a number of exciting current and future aircraft modification programmes for a variety of customers. We are looking for someone to provide technical expertise and leadership on major projects as well as the ability to develop and evaluate engineering solutions to meet the needs of customers worldwide on a variety of civil and military aircraft. You should be able to manage a small team and deliver packages of work in conjunction with, and to, the wider project team on time, to budget and quality.

Key Tasks:
Supporting design, testing and certification of various modifications through the following activities;
•Assessing the impact of modifications on fixed wing aircraft stability and control including generating ‘read-across’ arguments for previous test data
•Specifying requirements for flight testing to support development and certification
•Analysis of flight test data, compiling and checking engineering reports to support certification
•Managing flight dynamics tasks within a multi-disciplinary project, and managing and mentoring a small team
•Planning and Managing Flight Dynamics tasks including team performance
•Assisting in coaching and professional development of employees including training requirements
Whilst normal working hours will apply, at times you may be required to work longer hours and weekends as required. The work packages need to be delivered to agreed timescales, budget and quality and hence some flexibility in working hours will be required from time to time.

Key Skills/Competencies:
•A minimum of 5 years experience in the aerospace industry with an appropriate Aerospace or suitable Engineering degree, or equivalent experience.
•Familiarity with relevant parts of fixed wing Certification Regulations such as CS 25 and Def Stan 00 970
•Experience of specifying flight test requirements and assessing flight test data 
•Production of certification substantiation reports for aircraft stability and control
•Effective team working  and working under own initiative with efficient time management
•A high sense of commitment and willingness to accept responsibilities while acting independently
•Commitment to Quality
•Manage changing priorities
•Good appreciation of configuration control including change management 
•Chartered Status
•Experience of Flight Testing as a Flight Test Engineer or Flight Test Observer and familiarity with aircraft performance certification.
•Experience using methods such as ESDU datasheets for assessing aircraft Flight Dynamics / Aerodynamic aspects 
•Numerical modelling using tools such as Excel or Matlab 
•An appreciation of Computational Fluid Dynamics and Wind Tunnel Testing
•Experience of managing project work packages to tight timescales throughout the full life cycle of a project including requirements capture.
