Job Purpose: 
Reporting to the Design Manager (Land Systems), the role is to provide Design support within the wider engineering team, to meet the requirements of customer projects as well as departmental and company objectives.
Key Tasks:
•To undertake specific design tasks to achieve engineering outputs to programme, cost and specification, for both projects and bids in accordance with the contract requirements, statements of work and Engineering Department procedures
•Design products that are safe and meet all statutory requirements
•To produce, amend and check drawings and Items lists and release them for use by other departments in line with department processes
•Controlling product, build standard, drawing and document configuration control
•Assist purchasing with technical queries and release advance purchase requisitions 
•Resolve design queries and Inspection reports, including technical solutions to warranty issues
•To demonstrate flair, novel solutions to design problems using latest technologies and have input to design processes to reduce project / product cost and time to market.

Key Skills / Competencies:
Proficient with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault professional. Excellent IT skills, including Word and Excel along with a knowledge and interest in emerging technologies. Ability to interact with all levels of personnel both internally and externally.
A good breadth of Mechanical Engineering knowledge.  
Experience of designing to cost, manufacture and assembly, knowledge of drawing systems, product Structures, build Standards and configuration Control. 
Ideally with experience of using IT systems to improve workflow efficiencies and paperless systems.

Education/Qualifications: HNC/Degree in Engineering or lower qualification supplemented with additional experience
