Aerodynamics Engineer Category - Engineering Location - Cambridge, United Kingdom Type - Permanent Status - Full Time Vacancy Details Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group are expanding their Flight Dynamics Group to support a number of current and future aircraft modification programmes. We are seeking an experienced individual to join as an Aerodynamics Engineer. The successful candidate will be employed on major projects and have the ability to develop and evaluate engineering solutions to meet the needs of customers worldwide on a variety of civil and military aircraft. Key Responsibilities •Assessing the impact of modifications on aircraft performance, stability and control •Determination of aerodynamic loads using semi empirical methods •Numerical modelling using tools such as Excel, Matlab and STAR CCM •Specifying requirements for flight testing •Analysis of flight test data •Compiling and checking engineering reports •Managing flight dynamics tasks within a multi-disciplinary project Experience & Qualifications Candidates will have significant experience in the aerospace industry with either a degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering, or equivalent experience. The successful candidate’s experience and skills will include the following: •Familiarity with relevant parts of the Certification Regulations such as CS 25 and Def Stan 00-970 •Experience of using semi empirical methods (e.g. ESDU datasheets) for assessing aircraft aerodynamic aspects •Numerical modelling using tools such as Excel and Matlab •A good appreciation of CFD, ideally as an experienced user •Strong interpersonal and communication skills •Experience of managing project work packages to tight timescales throughout the full life cycle of a project •Experience of requirements capture and management would be an advantage Candidates whose experience is biased towards aeroelasticity, but with some aerodynamic experience, will also be considered.
